In an email dated Feb. 27, Gull Lake superintendent Chris Rundle informed Throop of the district s conclusions based on their preliminary investigation, along with Throop s statements made during an interview on Feb. 25.

A press release states the district has handed the situation over to local law enforcement, which will conduct a criminal investigation.

Throop, who worked at Gull Lake for 27 years, including 20 years as the athletic director, was fired Wednesday, Feb. 25, according to Gull Lake Superintendent Chris Rundle.

The Kalamazoo native, who retired in 2009, died on Tuesday at age 83. Several high school sports seasons were switched, notably girls basketball from fall to winter and girls volleyball from winter to fall.
