Throop, who worked at Gull Lake for 27 years, including 20 years as the athletic director, was fired Wednesday, Feb. 25, according to Gull Lake Superintendent Chris Rundle.

The Kalamazoo native, who retired in 2009, died on Tuesday at age 83. Several high school sports seasons were switched, notably girls basketball from fall to winter and girls volleyball from winter to fall.
