[Men's Indoor Track & Field] Men's Track & Field made new marks in the books

Comments

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Spring Arbor University's men's Track & Field team competed in the Mike Lints Open hosted by Grand Valley State University on Friday evening.  While the meet was an un-scored event, there were several outstanding performances by the Cougars.

Nathan Martin shattered his own school record in the 3000m run.  The old mark of 8:20.12 set in 2011 was 5.99 seconds faster than Tony Luttrell's mark set way back in 1976.  Martin bettered his mark by 5.2 seconds on Friday night with a new mark of 8:14.92.

It didn't take long for Ian Miller to make his presence known at SAU when Miller placed 7th out of 25 runners in the 600m run with a time of 1:22.19.  That pace was good enough for the 4th fastest time in Cougar history just 4.11 seconds behind the record of 1:19.10 set by David Rotich in 2004.

Garrett Reid made his mark in the Spring Arbor University record books with a 60m run time of 7.31.  While Reid placed 19th place out of 43 rubbers in the event, the time is the 5th fastest in Spring Arbor University history.

The men are back in action on Saturday, January 26th in Marian, IN at the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational.
