Comments

(Allendale, Mich.) Junior Haley Russell erased the shot put school record at the Al Owens Classic hosted by Grand Valley State University. The Golden Eagles added four national qualifying performances over the two day meet.

Russell and teammate Brittany Green advanced to the finals in the shot put, where Haley let loose a 41' 3 ¾" effort in the fifth round. That added just over an inch to the record set by Green in 2013. Russell finished fourth and Green eighth with a mark of 39-2.25. Russell also finished eighth in the discus with a season best 130-9.

Green and freshman Tess Odegard finished 1-2 in the high jump. Both bettered the NAIA provisional standard, clearing 5.5.35. Odegard's miss at 5-1.25 gave Green the win with fewer misses on the count back.

In the 100 meter hurdles, Anita Souza took second her preliminary heat in 14.43, well under the NAIA automatic standard. Green advanced to the finals, running 15.39. After Anita boarded a flight to Connecticut to visit family over Easter, Brittany took fifth in the finals in a PR 15.27. Lyndee Sayers lowered her best time in the 400 meter hurdles to 1:08.07 placing seventh.

Julie Oosterhouse took second in the 800 meters with a provisional qualifying time of 2:15.10.

CU completed the weekend winning the 4 x 400 meter relay. Lindsay Lipa, Sayers, Oosterhouse and Larissa Hampton 4x4 Lipa, Sayers, Oosterhouse, Larissa Hampton finished one second ahead of conference rivals, Davenport in 3:57.27.
