[Women's Indoor Track & Field] Women's Track & Field has strong day at Trine

ANGOLA, IN – Spring Arbor University's women's Track & Field team returned to the venue of their last first place finish, Trine University and competed in an un-scored event. 

Sarah Fredrick lead the distance ladies with a second place finish in the 800m with a time of 2:28.44.  The time qualifies Fredrick for the Indoor National Christian College (NCCAA) meet on Feb 15th & 16th.

Lindsey Prether lead the long sprint squad with a 3rd place finish in the 400m in a time of 1:02.68 which would also qualify her for the NCCAA National meet In the 4x200m relay, the team of Ashley Morris, Andrea Finkbeiner, Kayla Finkbeiner, and Lindsey Prether took first place on the evening in a time of 1:50.98 which is 3rd fastest in school history.

Vanessa Rogers and Erika Mestdagh were both able to match their season best of 10'6 in the pole vault placing 2nd.  Mestdagh also placed 3rd in the high jump with a leap of 5'2.

Also in the High Jump, Meg Joiner joined the top ten list with a personal best jump of 15'9 inches placing her 9th all-time.

Other athletes that achieved NCCAA Qualifications were Faith Gunderson in the 400m with a time of 1:03.00, Kayla Finkbeiner in the High Jump at 5'0 along with Meg Joiner at 4'10.

The next event for the Cougars will be next week.  It will be a split squad with some heading to Defiance College in Ohio on Friday and some to Grand Valley State University on Saturday.
