Concordia University - Ann Arbor Seeks a Full Time Head Coach of Men's and Women's Track and Field

Job Summary: The Head Coach is responsible for administering all aspects of the sport program including: coaching, recruiting, game scheduling, supervision of personnel, fund-raising, budget management, compliance with NAIA, and conference rules/regulations. This position requires additional duties in our Sports Information Department (SID).

Job Duties:
1. Demonstrating excellent teaching and coaching competencies with regard to: sport skill instruction, motivation, tactical strategies and physical training and fitness.
 
2. Exhibiting the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with regard to adherence to NAIA, Conference, University and Department of Athletics rules, policies and expectations including commitment to life long learning and sportsmanship on and off the field of play.
 
3. Design and execute a competitive schedule for intercollegiate contests (including practice planning) that maximizes individual and collective student-athlete development and performance; prioritizing conference play within the academic schedules of the student-athletes.
 
4. Create team results that are competitive within the WHAC regular season on a consistent basis.
 
5. Successful recruitment, matriculation, retention and graduation of student-athletes. Required roster numbers will be determined by the Director of Athletics.
 
6. Managing a cost-effective and administratively efficient sport program working at or within operational budget on an annual basis, includes purchasing, inventory and control of sports equipment and uniforms.
 
7. Participating in whole department and sport specific marketing, public relations, civic and community outreach and fundraising activities.
 
8. Developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with all constituents including department colleagues, administration, faculty and other college personnel in the spirit of integration and community with a common mission of Christ First in Everything.
 
9. Supervising and utilizing effectively part time assistant coaches.
 
10. Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Athletics, which may include game or facility supervision duties, including facility care and maintenance, travel arrangements for away contests, attending all department and other assigned meetings and committee work.
 
Basic Qualifications: 4 year undergraduate degree required. Organized coaching experience required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially in written communication (website articles) and the ability to learn various statistical software applications.

Results

(Cedarville, Ohio) – The Concordia men's indoor track team competed at the Cedarville Collegiate Invitational this past weekend bringing home an 8th place finish.  Freshman Jalan Ford (Warren, MI) started the day off for the Cardinals with a tie for 3rd in the high jump.  The next big finisher was senior Ryan Walton (Ypsilanti, MI) who placed 2nd in the 55 meter dash and finished 3rd in the 400 meters. Freshman Max Monton (Pentwater, MI) also finished fourth in the 400 dash.

 

The big story of the day for CUAA was sophomore Tim Grimm (Leonidas, MI) who competed in his first every Heptathlon. He competed in seven events over two days and finished in 10th place. "Tim is tough he works hard no matter what challenge is put in front of him," stated assistant coach Stephanie Foster. Tim also brought home the only 1st place finish by a Cardinal in the 1000 meters in the Heptathlon with a time of 2:51.87.

The Cardinals will be back in action on February 15th and 16th when they travel to the WHAC Championship meet.
