[Women's Indoor Track & Field] Women's Track and Field Setting Marks

Comments

SAGINAW, MI - Kayla Finkbeiner set a new Spring Arbor University school record last week at the Saginaw Valley State University Holiday Classic Track and Field Invitational. The sophomore speedster from Freeland, MI set the mark of 8.26 seconds in the 60m dash breaking the old mark of 8.32 seconds held by Lauren Preuter set last year.

The time will also qualify Finkbeiner for the NCCAA National meet to be held later this year in Cedarville, OH.

Freshman Emily Gibler launched her first shot-put of her career which placed her 3rd in the meet. Her distance of 12.43 meters (40' 9 ") is the second best toss all time in the Spring Arbor University record books. Kim Sturm's mark of 43' 3" set in 1998 still stands.

Jessica Lee ran a lifetime personal best time of 8.33 as did Junior Keylie Lindberg with 8.39. Both women's time qualified them for the NCCAA National Meet.

Also qualifying was Lindsey Prether in the 400 meter. Prether placed 7th in the meet with a time of 1:02.97, which is two one-hundredths of a second outside of the SAU Top 10 list. The time will still earn Prether a ticket to the NCAA National Meet.

Finkbeiner will be busy at the NCCAA Nationals as she also qualified in the High Jump, along with Junior Erika Mestdagh, with a jump of 1.48 meters (4' 10 ")

The Cougars will return to action January 13th at the Grand Valley State University's Bob Eubanks Invitational.
