[Men's Track] Men's Track Announces Indoor Season MVPs

Comments
(Ann Arbor, MI) - With the Indoor Track season complete, the Cardinals are pleased to announce that juniors, Martell Buchanan and Max Joseph are their 2011 MVPs. Both of these individuals are school record holders in their events, both are team captains, and both placed in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Meet.

Buchanan is the school record holder in the 600 meter, a record he has held for three seasons and which he improved upon this season at the Conference Meet with a new record time of 1:24.22, placing 5th. Buchanan is also the Cards top 800 meter runner this season, as well as the top 400, 300 and 200 meter runner. He broke the school record in the 300 meter this season, running a time of 36.4.

"Martell is a very versatile runner," said Coach Steve Montgomery. "He can run well in any event from the 60 meter to the 800 meter. Our only problem is trying to figure out which events he should run in at each meet. We always want to showcase his talent as much as possible," he added.

"Martell is extremely disserving of this honor," said Assistant Coach Julie Montgomery. "He is a great team player. As captain, he always tries to help out his teammates in any way he can. He also anchored our 4 x 400 meter relay which came very close to breaking the school record," she added.
