[Women's Cross Country] Oosterhouse Flies at Knight InvitationalPublished by
(Grand Rapids, Mich.) The Cornerstone Women's Cross Country team matched their sixth place finish from 2012 at the 2013 Knight Invitational hosted by Calvin College. On cool sunny morning at the Gainey Athletic Complex, the Golden Eagles topped seventh ranked Aquinas in a close, early season WHAC match-up. Junior, Julie Oosterhouse led the team with her third place finish in a new personal best time of 18:01. Sophomore, Audrey Tremaine and freshman, Cathy Coryell worked well together with Tremaine finishing 31st in 18:57 and Coryell just behind in 19:02 for 38th. Kaylee Carew missed most of her freshman year and all of last season rehabbing after ankle surgery. Her first cross country meet in two years completed her comeback as she ran just eight seconds off her personal best, clocking 19:33 to finish 71st. Leah Shepherd ran a collegiate best 19:40 to complete the team scoring, finishing 78th. Cornerstone entered the meet ranked fourteenth in the NAIA preseason poll and upset seventh-ranked Aquinas, finishing sixth. The host team from Calvin won the 26 team meet with 40 points.
