(Angola, Ind.) Senior Louis Falland duplicated his three distance events wins from the 2013 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, taking WHAC Performer of the Meet honors for the second straight season.  Falland scored 30 points from wins in the 1,000 meters, mile run and 3,000 meters, leading the Golden Eagles to a fourth place team finish.

"Last year it was a bit of a surprise, this year I had a target on my back," Falland said. "They knew what they had to do to beat me, so it was tougher. I had more motivation this year - my dad was at the meet [visiting from Australia].

In his first event of the evening, Falland pulled away from the field with a 60 second last 400 meters. His time of 4:15.95 was a new meet record.  In the 1,000 meters, Aquinas runners controlled the pace early keeping the pace quick. After passing 800 meters in 2:01, Falland blasted a 29 second last lap to win in 2:30.40. Jared Holmberg held on to add a point for sixth in 2:38.38.

"The 3,000 meters had the most strategy," said Falland. "I wanted to sit and kick and Tech tried to draw me out with a fast pace and burn the kick out of me. But they couldn't handle the pace they set so that wasn't very effective." With four laps to go, Louis dropped the pace to 34 seconds per lap and kept it there, opening a three second gap at the finish winning in 8:49.77.

CU seniors contributed in their final WHAC meets. Cody Risch took third in the 5,000 meters, running 15:38.96. Tyler Grey got fourth in the 800 meters, clocking 2:01.39.

The meet also served as the last chance to qualify for the NAIA championships. Deon Fox just missed qualifying two weeks ago when he broke the school record in the 60 meter hurdles. After running 8.46 to advance to the finals, Fox charged to fourth in the finals in 8.39, breaking his school record and finishing 1/100th of a second under the NAIA provisional qualifying mark.

In the field events, Ross Raymond took second in the shot put  with a 49- 5.25 effort on his third throw. Freshman, Gabe Turner picked up one point for sixth with a throw of 45-0.75  In the 35 pound weight throw, Raymond moved from seventh the fifth with a ten inch personal best on his final attempt measuring 47-4.5.   Logan Norton added six points for his third place finish in the pole vault, clearing 14-5.25

Indiana Tech won easily with 205 points, Siena Heights took second with 164, followed by Aquinas at 96, Cornerstone with 65, Davenport with 25 and Concordia with 3 points.
