[Women's Indoor Track & Field] Women's Track & Field competes at NAIA National Indoor

Comments

The SAU Women's Track and Field program submitted three entries into the NAIA National Indoor Championships including Danae Dracht in the 5000m run, Vanessa Rogers in the Pole Vault, and the 4x800m relay team of Rebecca Donker, Amanda Curtis, Mary Lehman, and Sarah Fredrick.  The Cougars didn't get the results they were hopeful for, but to qualify and compete in the biggest event in the NAIA earned them the experience to build on for the future.

The 4x800m relay team came into the meet ranked 23rd with a time of 9:47.78 and finished the meet with a time of 9:42.66 for 22nd place missing a trip to the finals.

In the 5000m, Danae Dracht had a seed time of 18:14.96 which placed her 17th in the field.  Dracht finished with a time of 18:14. 49 and a 20th place finish in the meet.

Vanessa Rogers was ranked third going into the meet with a vault of 11' 7 ¾" but was unable to clear opening height of 11'1 and didn't place.

"Although we didn't have a successful meet as the outside might view it, I am very proud of these ladies for the way they compete, love and encourage each other," said Head Coach, Mark Miller.  "We will build on this and work harder for the outdoor season."
