[Men's Outdoor Track & Field] Raymond re-writes record book again

(Allendale, Mich.) Junior Ross Raymond continued his record breaking season, throwing a school record in the shot put and a conference-leading mark in the hammer throw at the Al Owens Classic hosted by Grand Valley State University.

Friday, Raymond added four inches to his best in the hammer throw taking eleventh with a mark of 150-11 and extending his lead in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference to over four feet. Dan Door moved up to sixth on the CU all-time list with a new best 142-7 placing seventeenth.

Saturday in the shot put, Raymond's first attempt landed 49.1.75, breaking the school record he set last week by ten inches. In the second round he added five more inches, finishing fourth at 49-7. Freshman Gabe Turner made the finals with his third attempt measuring 43-4.5. He placed ninth.

On the track the sprinters enjoyed a tailwind on the homestretch. Deon Fox advanced to the finals in the 110 meter hurdles with a 15.57 in the prelims. His 14.27 in the finals earned him fifth place and his 14.27 clocking tied his personal best. Jon Brinks took second in his prelim section of the 100 meters in 11.21, advancing to the finals. He tied his best, 11.16 placing sixth in the finals.

The 4 x 100 meter squad of William Russell, Brinks, Fox and Tyler Kubik finished fourth in 43.71 and the 4 x 400 team of Jared Holmberg, Russell, Michael Darling and Nick Hayes ended the day taking fifth in 3:27.95.
