[Women's Outdoor Track & Field] Women's Track & Field Scores Four 1st Place Finishes at Manchester Invitational

(Manchester, IN) - The Women's Track and Field team had an awesome day when they traveled to Manchester Indiana on Saturday for the Manchester Invitational. The women scored four first places, along with several other places in the top eight.
 
Starting things of for the Lady Cardinals was freshmen, MicheleLaGrand who took first place in the 100 meter dash with an excellent time of 12.62. Michele then took 2nd place in the 200 meter dash, running a 25.8, another very good time. "Michele continues to run strong and tough in race after race this season," said Head Coach Steve Montgomery. "Taking first and second today is like the icing on the cake," he added.
 
Senior, Brittany Simmons continued her winning ways by winning both the long jump and the triple jump. She jumped 5.21 meters in the long jump and 10.71 meters in the triple jump. She also placed 3rd in the 100 meter dash. "Brittany is having her best season ever in the long jump," Coach Montgomery stated.
 
Next, freshmen,Kaitlyn McNight took first place in the discus, throwing 32.43 meters. She then took 4th place in the shot put, throwing 10.45 meters, and 5th place in the javelin, throwing 24.84 meters. "Kaitlyn is another freshmen who is having an outstanding season," Montgomery said. "Taking first today, along with the other places, was super great," he added.
 
Also running in the sprinting events was senior, Adora Morrow, placing 6th in the 100 meter and 8th in the 200 meter. In the 800 meter our top runner was freshmen, Leigh McRobbie, while sophomore, Olivia Amend took 6th place in the 100 meter hurdles.
 
"It was an exciting day to be a Cardinal today," exclaimed Coach Montgomery. The Ladies final meet is in two weeks when they travel to Siena Heights for the WHAC Conference Championships on May 3-4th.   Good Luck Cardinals.
