(Lansing, MI) - The men's Cross Country Team competed at the Lansing Community College Invitational this past Friday. Leading the way for the Cards this week was senior, Gary (Will) Cantrell, who ran a personal record (PR) of 29:03.4 for 8k (5 mile) course. Following closely behind Cantrell was junior, Martell Buchanan, who also ran a PR with a time of 29:04.7. "Will and Martell both had breakthrough races today," said Coach Steve Montgomery. "They've both been looking really good in their training so I had a feeling this was going to be a good day for both of them and it was," he added.

Next to finish for the Cards was freshmen, Ryan Bjellquist-Ledger, running a time of 29:50.3. "Ryan has been great all season but he had a bit of a tough day today." said Coach Montgomery. "He did some extra hard work this past week, so I think that may have tired him a bit," he added.

New to the team, and running in his first ever cross country meet was junior, Ryan Walton, finishing the 5 mile course in a time of 31:39.4. "I'm very excited about how Ryan ran today," said Montgomery. "Cross Country is brand new for Ryan so he's got a big learning curve ahead of him, but he has got a lot of potential and he is a very hard worker so I expect a lot of improvement from him in the coming weeks," he added.
