(Saturday March 12th, Ann Arbor, MI) - The "field" part of men's Track and Field is on the upswing this spring thanks to a new group of throwers and a new throwing coach. The new throwing coach is Conrad Opperman, who is a graduate of Alma University. While at Alma,Opperman was a Dean's List Scholar Athlete, one of their top throwers, as well as a captain of the track team.

Throwing for the Cardinals this spring are freshmen Eric Frisco and Ethan Anderson, and junior, Nathan Alderson. Frisco comes to us from Farmington MI, while Anderson hails from Munith MI, and Alderson is from Shelby Township MI.  All three of these gentlemen will be throwing in multiple events including the shot put, the discus, the hammer, and the javelin, with their strongest events being the shot and discus.

"We are super excited to welcome Coach Conrad Opperman to Concordia Track and Field. It is going to be really great to have a coach who can devote all his time to the throwers this year," said Coach Steve Montgomery. "So far he has done a great job with the guys, and everything is going in the right direction," he added.

Coach Montgomery is also excited to have a strong group of guys in the throwing arena. "Frisco is our most experienced thrower. I think he is providing great leadership for the other guys," Coach Montgomery said. "I'm expecting big improvements from all three of these guys this season," he added.

"Having a strong throwing contingent is helping with recruiting for next year. We already have several throwing recruits lined up for next year, including two that have signed," Coach Montgomery said. "I am very pleased with the direction we are headed in."

Men's Track and Field opens their outdoor season March 26^th at Bowling Green in Ohio.
