ELGIN, IL – The men's Track & Field team put up 33.5 points at the NCCAA National Championships this weekend held at Judson University in Elgin, IL which was good for ninth place at the National meet.

Spring Arbor University made a lot of noise on the National stage as Nathan Martin continued his dominance in the 10,000m as he set a new NCCAA record in the event, and Kyle Anderson was the recipient of the Wheeler Award.

Anderson was recognized at the conclusion of the event with the award which is named and sponsored by John and Jody Wheeler who have been involved in NCCAA athletics for over 20 years.  It recognizes a junior or senior with high academic standards and who exemplifies the highest standards of Christian character both on and off the field of competition.

Martin's record breaking performance of 29:37.99 set both an NCCAA National Meet record and also his own Spring Arbor University record that he set in 2009.  The mark he set back then was a time of 31:21:15.  Martin's new time is in better by almost two minutes and he was ahead of the second place runner, Josiah Bragg (Cedarville) by 1:23.38.  He also picked up 10 points towards the Cougars total.

Anderson finished fourth in the same event with a time of 31:21.54 which is his personal best time by more than a half of a minute and earned Anderson five points for SAU.

Jeremy Rogers set a new record in the Pole Vault breaking his old mark of 15'9" with a new mark of 15'11.25" and taking first place in the event and earning 10 points for the Cougars.

Tim Canfield placed in a tie for sixth in the pole vault with a vault of 14'11.5" and picked up 2.5 points.

The Men's 4X800 meter relay team of Chris Conrad, Ian Miller, Jared Lauber, and Andrew Guzdial finished third with a time of 7:54.51 adding six points to complete Spring Arbor's total of 33.5 points.

The final event for the Cougars is the NAIA National Championships on May 23-25 which will return to the Campus of Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, IN.  The qualifiers for the Meet will be announced at a later date.
