[Men's Tennis] Men's Tennis Gains Win Over #19 Olivet Nazarene due to Ineligible Player

Comments

UPDATE:  This story has been updated to reflect that Olivet Nazarene forfeited the match to Cornerstone due to the use of an ineligible player.  Cornerstone now wins the match by forfeit.  The original story is below.  The forfeited matches effected #1 Singles & #1 Doubles, which now show up as "forfet" statistically.  All other matches continue to count on individual records despite the overall team match being a forfeit.

In tennis action today at Olivet Nazarene University, the Cornerstone Men's Tennis Team fell to 1-1 on the season with a 9-0 loss to Olivet Nazarene University.  Cornerstone couldn't get any traction in doubles, and the malaise continued in singles.  The one bright spot for the Golden Eagles was senior Alex Tarnow at #6, who lost 7-6, 7-6 in what was the match of the day.  Said Coach Erickson on today's action:  "Losing 9-0 is never fun, and today is no exception.  We started slow and just never really found a way to work ourselves into the match.  We showed a few flashes of good play today, but ultimately weren't able to sustain it.  Still, I think it is valuable to play a team this solid early in the year so that we know where we need to be in order for our season to be what we want it to be."

Next up for Cornerstone is a double header with Huntington University & Goshen College at Goshen College on Saturday September 7.
