(Friday May 6th, Grand Rapids, MI) - The men's Track and Field Team competed in the WHAC Conference Men's Track and Field Championship in Grand Rapids this past weekend. One of the Cardinals top performers all season long has been junior, Martell Buchanan, and this weekend was no exception. Buchanan was the Cards top runner in the 200 meter, the 400 meter and he ran the fastest split time in the Cards 4 x 100 meter relay team. In the 400 meter he ran his fastest time ever, breaking the school record, running a 49.53, and placing seventh. "Martell ran a fantastic 400 meter race today," said Coach Steve Montgomery. "I was thrilled that he was able to break the school record. The entire field of runners in the 400 was outstanding, and Martell placing 7^th among them was an accomplishment," he added. "Martell also had a great race in the 200 meter, running another PR (personal record). He really peaked here at the Conference meet," said Coach Montgomery.
