[Men's Outdoor Track & Field] Cardinals Perform well at Bulldog Open!

(Saturday April 9th, Big Rapids, MI) - The Men's Track and Field team traveled to Ferris State University on Saturday for the Bulldog Open. Once again stand out sprinter, junior, Martell Buchanan had a good day. Buchanan placed fourth in the 400 meter with a time of 51.07. He also ran a good time of 23.03 in the 200 meter dash, and anchored the 400 meter relay which took sixth place, bettering their time to 43.82. Joining him on the relay were freshmen, Caleb Mims, Cody Cotner, and Brandon Head.
 
"The guys ran really great in the relay today," said Coach Steve Montgomery. "We are very close to the school record now. A little more tweaking of the exchanges and I'm confident we will get it," he added.
 
In other sprint events, Mims and Head ran well in the 100 meter dash, both running 11.84, tying for 16th place. Mims also had a good race in the 200 meter, running a 22.9, his best so far this season. Cotner ran his best times of the season in the 400 and 200 meter dashes.
 
"Cody had a good day with a nice improvement in his times," said Coach Montgomery. "He has been working really hard in practice, and it's starting to pay off," he added.
 
Running in the distance events were junior, Will Cantrell and freshmen, Andrew Belt. "Andrew had PR's (personal records) in the 800 meter and the 1500 meter today which is awesome," said Coach Montgomery.
