[Women's Indoor Track & Field] LADY CARDS COMPETE IN DOUG HANSON OPEN AT SVSU

Comments

(Saginaw, MI) - The Concordia Women's Track and Field team traveled to Saginaw Valley State University on Friday for the Doug Hanson Open. This was the Cardinals second meet of the season.

The Lady Cards were led by freshmen, Michele LaGrand. LaGrand competed in the 60 meter dash, placing 7th, with a time of 8.33. She also competed in the 200 meter dash, placing 3rd and breaking her own school record in the process with a time of 27.96. "Michele raced well in both the 60 and the 200 meter today," said Head Coach Steve Montgomery. "Her 60 time was a little off today but still good, but her 200 time is definitely going in the right direction," he said. "I expect her times to continue to fall as the season progresses," he added.

Also competing in the 60 and 200 meter dashes was junior Brenda Hawkins, running in her first ever official track meet. "Brenda comes to us from the volleyball team, so track is new for her. She is a hard worker and has tons of room for improvement," Coach Montgomery said. "I am pleased with how she ran today," he added.

Running in the distance events were freshmen Leigh McRobbie and senior Maggie Harris, while freshmen Joy Orr ran in the 400 and 200 meter dashes.
