(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Cardinals men's Indoor Track and Field Team traveled to Findlay, Ohio Saturday for their season opener. The men did remarkably well, breaking three school records and several PR's (personal records).

Senior, Martell Buchanan broke the school record in the 400 meter dash, running an excellent opening time of 51.22, placing 6th. He also took 5th place in the 200 meter dash, running a 23.1, an indoor PR. "Martell is already back on track with his training and performance in his first meet back after having a month off due to a medical issue," said Coach Steve Montgomery, " I am very pleased with how well he ran today."

A school record also fell in the 60 meter hurdles. Freshmen, Jeff Xaver broke the school record in both his preliminary heat and in the finals, ultimately running of 8.96, placing 9th. "Jeff's form looked remarkably good, considering this was his first race at the collegiate level hurdle height, which is three inches higher than the high school height," Coach Montgomery said. "It was awesome to see. I'm sure that he will continue improving as the season progresses," he added.
