(Friday February 4th, Findlay, OH) - On Friday, February 4^th the men's Track Team competed at the Findlay Open at Findlay University. This was a very large meet with over fourteen teams participating. Our top performers for the day were juniors Martell Buchanan and Max Joseph. Buchanan placed fourth in the 600 meter with a time of 1:26.0 and anchored our 4 x 400 meter relay, in which we won our heat. Joining Buchanan on the 4 x 400 meter were Joseph, freshmen Caleb Mims and freshmen Cody Cotner. Joseph also placed fourth in the long jump, with a jump of 6.14.

"Max and Martell had another day of good, solid performances," said Coach Steve Montgomery. "They are well-positioned going into the Conference meet which is two weeks away," he added.

Other noteworthy performances were turned in by juniors Will Cantrell and Ryan Burmeister, both having big improvements over the previous couple of weeks. Cantrell improved his mile time, breaking the five minute barrier, running a 4:58.7, while Burmeister improved his 800 meter time to 2:14.1.

"These two guys had big improvements today," said Coach Montgomery, "hopefully the trend will continue going into the Conference Meet."

Participants in other events included Mims in the 60 meter,Cotner in the 200 and 400 meters, freshmen Brandon Head in the 60 and 200 meter, junior Nathan Alderson in the shot put, and freshmen Andrew Belt in the mile and 800 meter.

"Our Conference Meet is two weeks away, and I'm really looking forward to see what we can achieve there. This will be the first time we will have an entry in the 4 x 400 meter relay, so I'm really excited to see how we can do in that event," Coach Montgomery said. The Conference Meet will be Saturday, February 19 at Trine University in Indiana
